The Palm Jumeirah Guide: Beach Days, Big Dinners & After-Dark Plans
Beach days that become dinners, restaurants worth dressing up for and plenty of reasons to stay after sunset. Here’s how to do the Palm properly.

Palm Jumeirah isn't really one neighbourhood.
It's several very different days out wrapped around the same stretch of coastline.
You can spend the morning horizontal on a sunbed, disappear into a three-hour lunch, take the kids somewhere that'll exhaust them before dinner, or get dressed up for one of the biggest meals in Dubai. And when the sun goes down, there's very little reason to leave.
The trick is not trying to do all of it.
The Palm is bigger than it looks and traffic has ruined many an overambitious itinerary. Pick your plan, stick roughly to your part of the island and save the rest for another day.
These are the places we'd start with.
For a Beach Day
Bohemia Beach Club
FIVE Palm Jumeirah · $$$
For when “a quiet day at the beach” was never really the plan.
Bohemia brings the full FIVE energy to the sand: pool, sea, music and an atmosphere that gets considerably livelier as the day goes on.
Come early if you actually want some sunbed time. Come later if the party is the point.
Weekday entry is AED 100 and fully redeemable, while Friday to Sunday is AED 150, also fully redeemable.
Perfect for: Birthday groups, long Saturdays and beach days that were always going to end with drinks.
Riva Beach Club
The Shoreline ·$$
Sometimes you just want a sunbed.
No enormous DJ booth. No requirement to arrive looking like you're about to be photographed. Riva is the Palm's more laid-back beach-day option, with a private stretch of sand and pool that make it particularly good when the aim is simply to switch off for a few hours.
It's also one of the better-value days out on the island. Weekdays are AED 99 with AED 89 redeemable, while weekends are AED 150 with AED 125 back to spend on food and drinks.
Perfect for: Easy beach days, couples and anyone who doesn't need a party with their pool.
For a Long Lunch
The MAINE Beach House
Club Vista Mare · $$$
Come for lunch. Don't make plans for 4pm.
Seafood, steaks, oysters, cocktails and the beach a few steps away. The MAINE Beach House is exactly the sort of place where ordering one more round seems entirely reasonable until you realise you've been sitting there for three hours.
If you can, time it with Shuck Fest from 4pm to 8pm, when oysters are AED 10 each. Selected drinks are also two-for-one during Golden Hours.
Perfect for: Long lunches, groups and visitors who need reminding why you live in Dubai.
For a Big Dinner
Trèsind Studio
The St. Regis Gardens · $$$$
The reservation you make first. Everything else comes later.
This is not a spontaneous Tuesday-night dinner.
Chef Himanshu Saini's three-Michelin-starred restaurant is one of the city's serious dining destinations, built around an elaborate tasting menu that makes the meal the entire evening.
And yes, it's a blowout: the current degustation menu is AED 1,350 per person.
Save it for something worth celebrating.
Perfect for: Anniversaries, milestone birthdays and people who plan holidays around restaurants.
Ariana's Persian Kitchen
Atlantis The Royal · $$$
The one we'd book when the parents are in town.
Ariana Bundy's restaurant takes Persian home cooking and gives it an Atlantis The Royal setting: generous plates, beautiful interiors and enough occasion about the whole thing to impress without dinner becoming stiff.
It's also possible to do it without committing to a huge evening. The Taste of Persia three-course lunch is AED 190 per person, making lunchtime a particularly good way in.
Perfect for: Family dinners, celebrations and showing visitors somewhere properly Dubai.
Maiden Shanghai
FIVE Palm Jumeirah · $$$
Dinner with absolutely no intention of going home afterwards.
This is the group dinner.
Order too much for the table, get another round and accept that whatever you planned to do after dinner is probably about to change.
The contemporary Chinese menu works particularly well for sharing, but Maiden Shanghai's biggest advantage is its address. When dinner ends, you're already at FIVE.
Worth knowing: The Saturday Naughty Noodles brunch starts from AED 350 per person.
Perfect for: Birthdays, big groups and dinner before a late one.
For Sundowners
Above Eleven
Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah · $$$
One drink before dinner. Allegedly.
There are plenty of places to watch the sun go down on the Palm, but Above Eleven gives you a rooftop, skyline views, Nikkei food and enough reason to stay for a second drink.
Go Wednesday to Sunday between 5pm and 8pm and AED 40 gets you a selected cocktail or house drink with a sushi bite.
Book around sunset. Stay longer than planned.
Perfect for: Date-night drinks and starting the evening with a view.
For a Day Out
Aquaventure World
Atlantis The Palm · $$$
The one the kids will still be talking about tomorrow.
Don't make the mistake of treating Aquaventure as something you can squeeze in before lunch.
Give it the day.
Between the slides, pools, beach and everything else happening inside, there's enough here to keep the family occupied until everyone is thoroughly exhausted.
Ticket prices vary by date and package, so check the current rate before you go rather than relying on an old screenshot.
Perfect for: Full family days and children with significantly more energy than you.
The View at The Palm
Palm Tower · $$
Yes, it's touristy. Do it anyway.
You can drive around Palm Jumeirah for years without really appreciating what you're driving around.
Then you see it from above.
The View's observation deck puts the whole thing into perspective: trunk, fronds, Crescent and Dubai stretching out behind it.
Standard admission currently starts from AED 110, with higher-level experiences available if you want to go further up.
Take visitors. Take your parents. Take yourself at least once.
Perfect for: First-time visitors and Dubai residents who've somehow never been.
If You've Only Got One Day
Don't attempt all nine.
Start with a beach morning at Riva if you want things relaxed, or Bohemia if you don't.
Make lunch the event at The MAINE Beach House, then disappear home for a few hours before heading back out around sunset.
Drinks at Above Eleven. Dinner at Ariana's if you want something polished, Maiden Shanghai if you're staying out, or Trèsind Studio if the dinner itself is the reason you're on the Palm.
That's enough.
The Palm is at its best when you stop trying to conquer it and give yourself permission to stay awhile.
