Halloween plans tend to arrive in two forms.
There is the one booked weeks ahead, with tickets safely in the inbox. Then there is the 5pm supermarket dash involving a plastic cape, questionable face paint and the sudden discovery that every child in Dubai wants the same costume.
Choose the first one.
Two very different Halloween events are already live on yapped for 2026. Neither requires you to walk through a haunted corridor while somebody with a chainsaw tests the strength of your nervous system.
For Small Storytellers: The Wand of Truth
The Courtyard Playhouse is giving its Saturday Kids’ Storytime a Halloween spin on Saturday 31 October.
The Wand of Truth follows two siblings who discover a mysterious stick capable of making anything happen. What happens next is partly up to the children watching.
They suggest ideas. The performers build those suggestions into the story. The adults accept that they are no longer in control.
A flawless system.
The result is one hour of improvised theatre, audience participation and gentle mischief. Think Halloween imagination rather than proper scares. It is a good fit for younger children who want to join the fun without unlocking a new fear of dark bedrooms.
There are two performances, running from 11am to noon and 2pm to 3pm. Tickets cost AED 75 including VAT for each family member, not per family, and children must be accompanied.
This is the event to sort now. The story may be improvised. Your Saturday should not be.
“One event hands the plot to children. The other leaves the fast decisions to people on horseback. Halloween handled.”
For People Who Prefer Chukkas to Costumes: Halloween Cup
Not interested in face paint? Al Habtoor Polo Resort has a useful alternative.
The Halloween Cup runs from 26 to 31 October, bringing six days of early-season polo to the resort.
Despite the name, this is polo first and Halloween second. Expect horses, quick play and fresh air. Do not arrive demanding pumpkin carving or a haunted maze.
Daily match times and public access information have not yet been released. That makes this one to save rather than fully schedule. Check the official calendar closer to the tournament before inviting the group or promising anyone a particular afternoon.
These are not interchangeable plans. The Wand of Truth is a ticketed family outing with confirmed times and a clear booking link. The Halloween Cup is the lower-costume option, but its practical details still need to land.
Choose accordingly.
