Dubai’s New-Opening Map: Five Neighbourhoods To Watch

Forget another restaurant roll call. September’s useful dining story is where the action is moving—from Gymkhana in DIFC to a new after-dark reason to visit Paus.

Dubai doesn’t need another restaurant-opening roll call. What it needs is a map.

This September’s arrivals are spread across five very different parts of the city, each giving you a new reason to change direction at dinner time.

DIFC has secured a London heavyweight. Dubai Design District has gained an all-day Italian. JBR has gone big on family-friendly dining. Paus is staying awake for dinner.

Al Quoz? That one requires patience.

DIFC: Gymkhana Has Arrived

DIFC’s dinner scene was hardly struggling, but Gymkhana raises the stakes.

The two-level restaurant opened at Gate Village 7 on 1 September, marking the Indian concept’s first UAE location. Important distinction: the original Gymkhana in Mayfair holds two Michelin stars. The new Dubai restaurant does not arrive with those stars already attached.

The menu combines London signatures—including tandoori masala lamb chops and kid goat methi keema—with Dubai-only dishes such as jackfruit ghee roast, imli black cod with peanut chutney and Wagyu beef sukka with bone marrow.

Dinner currently runs daily from 6.30pm to 1am. Save this one for an evening intended to feel like an occasion.

“September’s useful dining story isn’t simply what opened. It’s which neighbourhood now has a better answer to dinner.”

d3: La Lupa Makes Italian An All-Day Plan

La Lupa brings a softer kind of momentum to Dubai Design District.

The restaurant moves from breakfast and coffee into lunch, dinner and drinks, with handmade pasta, risotto, seafood, steak and Mediterranean plates on the menu.

This is less about staging one enormous night out and more about becoming somewhere you keep returning to. Coffee meeting? Works. Pasta after the galleries? Also works. Dinner that accidentally becomes drinks? You know how this ends.

The restaurant is currently listed as opening from 8am to 10pm in d3’s directory.

Al Quoz: Hikiniku To Come Is Still To Come

Hikiniku To Come will eventually give Al Quoz something very specific.

The Tokyo-born concept revolves around freshly ground Wagyu hamburger steaks, grilled over charcoal in front of diners and served with rice cooked in traditional hagama pots.

It was announced for September at CMPLX, but the operator still lists Al Quoz as “opening soon”. CMPLX now describes the wider development as opening in Q4 2026.

Translation: keep it on your radar, but don’t build Friday night around it until reservations go live.

JBR: Pepe Cucina Goes Big

Pepe Cucina is now open at Address Beach Resort with fresh pasta, pizza, Italian sharing dishes and views towards Ain Dubai.

It spans four floors and includes an open-air terrace, games for grown-ups and a children’s area with an outdoor cinema.

That makes it a useful JBR addition: polished enough for dinner, relaxed enough for families and equipped to reduce the likelihood of a pre-dessert revolt.

Al Wasl Road: Paus Stays Up For Dinner

Paus isn’t a new opening, but its evening direction makes it newly relevant after dark.

The homegrown wellness and community space now keeps The Eatery open until midnight, with a menu that moves from breakfast and sandwiches into pasta, pizzette, small plates and more substantial mains.

It’s a useful evolution for a place already known for treatments, movement and daytime café stops—and proof that wellness doesn’t require going home after sunset.
