Mirdif’s Latest Pop-Up Comes With Books, Not Burgers

Dubai Culture’s Reading Box is at City Centre Mirdif until 28 October. Storytelling, workshops and conversations that don’t happen in a comments section.

City Centre Mirdif has something to add to the shopping list.

Dubai Culture’s Reading Box runs until Wednesday 28 October in the mall’s Central Galleria, with authors, poets, workshops and activities for younger readers. Now in its 11th edition, the ten-day programme offers plenty to investigate. No unfinished novel of your own required.

Books, Films and a Few Good Arguments

What separates a writer from a content creator? What happens when a novel becomes a film? The announced discussions give the “book was better” crowd somewhere to make their case.

Other sessions explore poetry, music and AI, alongside translation and preserving Emirati stories. There are poetry evenings too, if you would rather listen than join the debate.

It is a chance to hear from the people doing the writing, not just the people reviewing it.

A Chapter for the Kids

Younger readers get storytelling sessions, interactive workshops and educational activities led by children’s authors.

That gives families a reason to visit beyond the usual shopping-and-lunch routine. Pick something suited to your child’s age and language, and make that the main event. The errands can have a supporting role.

Before You Head Over

The overall dates are confirmed, but individual session times, admission charges and registration requirements still need checking.

Ask Dubai Culture or City Centre Mirdif about the session you want before making a special trip. The mall may be open all afternoon; your chosen storyteller has a schedule.
